Akeredolu Allays Fear Over Troops Pull Out Of Checkpoints In Ondo

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State have assured that the sudden pull out of troops from checkpoints on major highways, will not affect security in the state.

People in the state have been apprehensive since the troops stopped manning checkpoints on highways, noted for attacks by armed kidnappers.

The governor said operatives of other security agencies, such as the police, department of security service and Nigeria Security and civil Defece Corps have been deployed to the checkpoints to replace the troops.

The governor through his special assistant on security, Jimoh Dojomo, said the job of internal security is not for the military, but the police DSS and NSCDC.

He warns people in the state not to join in politicizing the issue.

The leading opposition party in the state, the PDP had alleged that the troops pulled out because the state government failed to pay agreed allowances to them.
