AGF says he has powers to prosecute anybody

Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has told Senators that the ongoing case of forgery of the Senate Standing Order 2015 against the Senate President and his deputy will not be discontinued.

Malami appearing before the Senators, said the criminal case was initiated and investigations concluded on it by the Police before his appointment last November 12, last year.

As the Attorney General of the Federation, Malami said he has an obligation in the sustenance of democracy to institute a legal action from the already concluded investigations.

Malami said therefore the legal action was not taken to undermine the democratic process as being alleged in some quarters, but to protect the process.

The Senators had threatened to effect his arrests after he failed to honour their invitation to explain why the criminal case of forgery was initiated against the Senate President and his deputy.
