Resident Doctors have again shelved their strike scheduled to have taken off today in tertiary hospitals over a package of demands from the presidency.

President of the National Association of Resident Doctors, Doctor Mohammed Askira, who announced this, said the decision was taken following the last minute intervention of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

He said Dogara at the meeting convened at the instance of the house pleaded for a week suspension of the strike, to enable them meet with the Health Minister on their various demands.

Askira said the strike would be put on hold for a week, to allow the speaker and the principal officers of the House of Reps to intervene in the issue.
