Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has nominated the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen as the next Chief Justice of Nigeria.
He had since sent his name to the Senate for confirmation.
The indication is contained in a statement on the twitter handle of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The tenure of the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria expires on February 10.
The Senate, however, in on a recess and will not resume till February 21, except for emergency purposes.
If confirmed, Justice Onghenon will the first Chief Justice of Nigeria from the South’s three geo-political zones in the past 30 years.
