Governor Dapo Abiodun has asked the presidency to allow Ogun State government to reconstruct and upgrade some of the major federal roads in the state.
The roads connecting the state with Lagos State, include Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta, Ikorodu-Sagamu and Epe-Ijebu Ode.
Federal government has already awarded contracts for the reconstruction of Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta and Ikorodu-Sagamu road, and contractors had mobilised to the sites.
The governor made the request while leading a delegation of Ogun State elders and leaders of thought to President Buhari at the President Villa, to thank him for the post humous awards and honour given to late Bashorun MKO Abiola.
He told the president that the roads which are very strategic are in deplorable condition, giving both motorists and commuters a nightmare.
Former Governor Ibikunle Amosun was conspicuously absent from the delegation of elders and leaders of thought, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Those at the meeting included Aremo Olusegun Osoba, former Governor Gbenga Daniel, members of National Assembly from the state, and traditional rulers.
The traditional rulers included the Olu of Ilaro, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle; the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, and the Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Yinusa Adekoya.
Others were Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, Prince Gboyega Isiaka, Iyalode Alaba Lawson, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Mr Tunde Lemo, Senator Lanre Tejuoso, Segun Awolowo, Kola Abiola and Hafzat Abiola.
Also in the team were Senators Gbenga Kaka, Bode Mustaph, and Buruji Kashamu, Chief Femi Majekodunmi, Asiwaju S K Onafowokan, and Oba Otudeko.
