Abeokuta residents near Ogun river bank worried over water level

People living on the bank of Ogun River at Lafenwa in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, are now living in fear, following a sudden rise in the level of water in the river.

The water level of the river is reaching a frightening level, following the heavy rainfall recorded in the past days in the city.

More of the heavy rain is still expected, as Ogun State has been identified as one of the states, that will experience massive rainfall and flooding this year.

When Rockcity FM visited the Enugada-Lafenwa segment of Ogun River, the water level is inching towards the top of two bridges on the river.

Residents living close to the river bank are already creating a channel, to  keep the water spilling from the river from entering their homes.

Some of the residents told Rockcity FM that they are worried over the rising level of water in the river for the past one week.

They urged the state government to reconstruct some of the water drainages which has been abandoned by the state government.
