National identity management commission (nimc) says over 700,000 national electronic identity cards are yet to be collected by their owners.
The commission’s acting director general, Hadiza Dabagana, said over 37 million nigerians had enrolled on the national identity database at the 64 locations nationwide.
For those under 16 years old seeking to enrol, she explained that their parents and guardians were to present their national identity number and birth certificates of their wards at the registration centers.
According to Dabagana, the biometric of the parents and guardians will be tied with those of their children and wards until they attain the age of sixteen years when they are expected to come for actual capturing of their biometrics.
