A lawyer and chartered accountant, Prince Babatunde Ajayi has emerged as the Akarigbo-elect of Remo-land.
The 52 year old prince is elected by the seven-member kingmakers to susceeds Oba Michael Sonariwo who joined his ancestors on July 24, 2016.
Five of the seven kingmakers voted for him, while two voted for Professor Babatunde Ogunmola.
The remaining candidates had no vote in the election supervised by the Secretary to the Sagamu Local Government, Adewale Fakoya.
Ogun State Local Government and Chietaincy Affairs commissioner, Chief Jide Ojuko confirmed the election of Prince Ajayi, describing the selection of candidates and the election as peaceful.
He said the installation of the Akarigbo elect will be announced later.
“It is true that a candidate has been elected as the Akarigbo of Remoland. He is Prince Tunde Ajayi. I am happy the processes have been peaceful, I mean both the nomination and selection and very soon, the installation date will be announced,” Ojuko said.
