Five persons died and 36 others injured in various auto crashes recorded in Ogun State during the 2019 Eid El Kabir Festival in the state.
The casualty recorded in 17 accidents, between last August 6 and August 20, represents 16.6 per cent drop in the figure for the corresponding period in 2018.
The accidents, according to Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), involved 11 cars, three private buses, three commercial buses, a motorcycle, two medium trucks, one heavy truck and three other vehicles.
The TRACE spokesman, Commander Babatunde Akinbiyi, in a statement says 63 persons were involved in the auto crashes.
Akinbiyi says the analysis of the various accidents, shows that 45.73 percent of them were caused by excessive speeding, 22.84 percent by dangerous driving, 9.80 percent by bad tyres, while driving against traffic was blamed for 2.45 per cent of the recorded accident during the period.
