40,000 To Be Recruited Into Proposed Community Police Force

Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has given an insight into the proposed Community Police Force approved by President Buhari to assist in curbing the growing insecurity in the country.

Adamu speaking at a meeting with senior Police officers in Abuja, explains that the force will depend on provisions of the Police act for the recruitment and utilization of special constables who will be engaged as community Police officers.

40,000 community Police officers, according to him, will be recruited from the communities where they reside.

He says 50 community Police officers will be recruited from each of the 774 Local Government Areas of the state, as well as 1,300 from professional bodiest.
