40 bags of Indian hemp intercepted by police, on Sagamu-Benin expressway

Forty bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, have been intercepted by policemen from the Ogun State police command along the Benin-Sagamu expressway.

Police said, they earlier received an alert that some criminals are bringing hard drugs, such as nicotine and Indian hemp, as well as, dangerous weapon, from Edo State through Ogun State to Lagos State.

Spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, explained that the consignment loaded in a truck marked KPP 339 XD, later turned out to be weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

Oyeyemi said, three persons found in the truck, Frank Osai, Elvis Okuse and Kelvin Ogagaoghene, are now in police custody.

According to him, the suspects, while being interrogated, claimed that the weed was meant to be delivered to a customer identified as Uche, in Lagos.

The State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered a full scale investigation on the activities of the arrested suspects, as well as, their sponsors.
