2019: Court upholds Kashamu as Ogun PDP governorship candidate

An Abuja high court has dismissed application by a member of House of Representatives, Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu challenging the nomination of Senator Buruji Kashamu as the Ogun state PDP candidate for the March 2 governorship poll.

Adebutu in his application wants the court to dismiss the nomination of Kashamu and declare him as the PDP candidate for the poll.

Justice Ajoke Adepoju in her ruling dismissed the entire application of Adebutu.

Justice Adepoju agreed that the PDP National Working Committee has the powers to conduct the primaries to nominate candidates for the 2019 polls.

She however, held that the PDP National Working Committee cannot hold a valid governorship primaries for 2019 polls in Ogun state until it vacates a judgement entered against it by Justice Ibrahim Buba of a Federal High Court.

Both Adebutu and Kashamu had been at loggerheads over the control of PDP leadership in Ogun state, which had broken the state chapter of the party into factions.
