30 persons have died in a ghastly auto crash on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Ten others were injured in the crash which involved two buses on Thursday night at the Ibadan segment of the expressway.
Spokesman of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bisi Kazeem, told newsmen that the accident occurred at kilometre 95 near Elebolo quarry was due to over-speeding.
He said that bodies of those who died in the accident had been deposited in the morgue of the Adeoyo Hospital at Yemetu, Ibadan, and those injured taken to the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
According to him, 10 other persons were injured in the crash involving 40 persons and two Mazda buses.
“The crash occurred at a construction site, and it resulted from route and speed violations,” he said.
“This has further underscored the corps marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi’s advice to motorists to avoid night journeys, be careful around construction sites and drive within approved speed limits.”
