A luxury passenger bus in the fleet of GUO Transport has crashed into a river in the Ikorodu axis of Lagos.
Three of the 59 passengers and crew in the bus marked Anambra GDC 368 YE, died on the spot.
The accident occurred at Owode-Elede, near Mile 12, in the early hours of Friday as the bus was on its way from Aba in Abia state to Maza-Maza, near Mile Two.
The South West spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed that 48 people were rescued, while three others, including the driver were recovered dead.
“It has been confirmed that there is no more victim in the river. Some people are said to have walked out immediately after the incident before the arrival of emergency agencies. We have 48 rescued alive, three dead, while nine of the survivors are being attended to at Lagos State Emergency Trauma Centre at toll gate on Lagos-Ibadan expressway,” he said.
Also, spokesman of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Kehinde Adebayo, said 23 were injured and treated on the spot.
