29 Killed, 127 Injured In Okada Crashes In Ogun In Four Months

13 Killed, 11 Injured In Nassarawa Auto Crash

Twenty Nine riders and passengers of commercial motorcycles, popularly called okada, died in road crashes across Ogun State between last January and April

127 others were also injured in the crashes, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)

The state sector commander of FRSC, Ahmed Umar, who provided the date in an interview with Rockcity FM correspondent, Yemi Eniola, said those killed include 26 male adults, two female adults and one male child

For those injured, 107 were male adults, 15 female adults and five male children

The sector commander says that 130 others survived crashes without injuries

According to him, 286 riders and passengers of Okada were involved in the 77 crashes recorded during the period

The FRSC commander blames most of the accidents on reckless driving by Okada riders, and their failure to obey traffic rules on highways Most of the riders, according to Umar, were often riding under the influence of alcohol
