President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected calls that he either groom or name a successor, ahead of the end of his tenure in 2023.
Buhari says he will neither groom anybody or designated anyone as his preferred successor.
He explains that doing so will create problems for his administration and the person he anoints as his successor.
Buhari spoke while responding to a request from members of the progressive academics, who visited him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and asked him to groom a successor, who will take over from him in 2023.
He asks all those aspiring to succeed him in 2023 to work hard, reminding them that he became an elected president, after he was allegedly robbed of victory in three separate Presidential Polls.
Buhari asks youth seeking to become president to stop taking things for granted, and be mindful that it requires a lot of work and conviction.
