2019: Ogun teachers urged to steer clear of politics

Teachers in the public schools in Ogun State have been asked to steer clear of the partisan politics, ahead of the 2019 polls.

State’s Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Akeem Lasisi, issued the warning, in an interview with Rockcity Fm News, on the side-line of the 2018 world teacher’s day in Abeokuta.

Lasisi asked the public schools teachers to be familiar with the civil service rules, in order not to flout any of its provision.

The teachers, according to him, having collected their Permanent Voter Cards have the right to vote for any candidate of their choice, instead of being a card carrying member forbidden by the public service rules.

The ASUSS chairman also asked the teachers to be wary of some politicians who might want to use them for selfish gain.
