Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has reversed his decision by declaring support for PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and PDP in the 2019 polls.
The Former President, last August 3, had said that god would not forgive him if he ever supported Atiku to become president of Nigeria.
Obasanjo, addressing a news conference, after a closed door meeting with Atiku in Abeokuta, said that the former vice president had shown remorse and asked for forgiveness, which he accepted.
The closed door meeting was attended by several people including Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Bishop David Oyedepo, Catholic Bishop, Mathew Kukah, Chief Bode George and an Islamic scholar, Sheikh Abubakar Gumi.
Obasanjo said Atiku understands the economy and has the capacity to continue from where his administration stopped in 2007.
He asked Atiku to correct what he called nepotism of the Buhari government and ensure merit in appointments of competent Nigerians into offices to move Nigeria forward.
Atiku, who arrived the museum section of the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library, was also accompanied by his campaign organising Director General, Former Governor, Gbenga Daniel, Former Governor Liyel Imoke and PDP Chairman Uche Secondus and Senator Murray Bruce. Please subscribe to our newsletter
