Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that it has not zoned its 2019 governorship ticket to any of the state’s three senatorial districts.
The state party chairman, Alhaji Tajudeen Lemboye, gave this indication, at the APC state secretariat in Abeokuta, while receiving a governorship aspirant, Isiaq Akinlade, who formally declared interest in the ticket.
Lemboye, however said Ogun APC will not make any mistake in choosing a candidate that will succeed Governor Ibikunle Amosun, after his tenure ends on May 29, 2019.
Such a candidate, according to him, will have the capacity to continue the pace of performance of the Amosun administration, in further developing the state, adding that, the party wants to emulate the Lagos example of continuity in governance.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who had declared support for the Yewa axis to pick the APC ticket, on Tuesday at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta, said he will begin campaign for his choice governorship candidate, as from March 2018.
Apart from Akinlade, other aspirants who had formally declared interest in the APC governorship ticket, include Ogun State House of Assembly speaker, Suraj Adekunbi, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Tolu Odebiyi and forestry commissioner, Alhaji Kolawole Lawal.
