The conduct of the national census, scheduled to hold this year, had been put off indefinitely.
The exercise had been postponed twice due to financial problems.
Chairman of the National Population Commission, Chief Eze Duruiheoma, who gave this indication in an interview with newsmen in Abuja, said there is till no clear cut date for the headcount exercise.
He explained that there is no provision in the commission’s budget for the capital projects for the exercise for the nearest future.
For example, Duruiheoma said the commission requires N22 billion to effectively complete its ongoing enumeration area demarcation in the country’s 774 local government areas.
He, however, explains that so far, only N2.2 billion has been spent on the project.
