Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has given Friday deadline to the House committees to submit their reports on the 2017 Appropriation Bill to the House’s appropriation committee.
Dogara who gave the deadline during the Tuesday plenary, said the deadline will enable the appropriation committee to collate the report and conclude work on the proposed 2017 budget.
He warned that any of the adhoc committee which fails to meet the Friday deadline will face the consequence.
From all indication, the proposed 2017 budget will not be ready till April.
Early this month, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, had promised that the Senate will pass the proposed 2017 budget before March 31.
But the House of Representatives spokesman, Abduraman Namdas, explained that the passage of the budget by the House before March 31 may not be feasible because of the new software being used to process the budgetary estimates.
