Five persons have died in an auto crash on the New Year Eve along the Ogun State segment of Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
13 other persons were injured in the fatal accident, which occurred 9 am at Wazobia, along the expressway.
Ogun State sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Clement Oladele, said the accident involved a commercial bus marked MGD 129 ZK, and a trailer marked DDA 121 XA.
Oladele explained that the bus heading from Ibadan to Lagos, lost control, veered off the road, and crashed into the trailer, which was parked by the roadside.
The driver of the bus, according to the FRSC commander, immediately absconded from the scene of the accident.
According to him, the remains of those who died in the crash had been deposited at the Ipara General Hospital, while injured ones were taken to hospitals in Sagamu.
Also, fifteen people have died in a ghastly auto crash along Gujungu-Gurnel highway in Jigawa state.
The accident which occurred in the Kaugama local government area, involved a bus and a truck.
Spokesman of the state police command, Abdul Jinjiri, listed those who died in the crash as nine men, four women and two children.
He said the bus which carried 14 passengers crashed into the truck from the opposite direction.
