16 Soldiers, 4 Officers court martialed for gun running, murder

20 soldiers, including four officers are facing trial before an army tribunal sitting in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

They are charged with gun running, acts of indiscipline and murder in the course of the ongoing mopping up of last remnants of Boko Haram bases in the north east region.

General Officer commanding the Army Seventh Division, Major General Victor Ezegwu, inaugurating the tribunal, asked the court president to avoid bias, and not to entertain unnecessary adjournment of the trial

The Tribunal President Oluseyi Adeniyi refused bail plea of the suspects and adjourned trial till September 15.
