13 killed in ghastly auto crash

A fatal auto crash has left 13 people dead along the Ogbomoso –Ilorin expressway.

The accident which occured at Otte, near Ilorin, involved a passenger bus crashing into a stationary truck on the expressway.

The Kwara state police commissioner, Olusola Amore, said the bus was coming from Kaduna.

The truck has been towed as the police go in search of the owner of the heavily loaded vehicle.

“A bus load of passengers coming from Kaduna ran into a stationary vehicle and all the passengers died. In fact, for now, the trailer has been impounded and we are working to tow the trailer. The trailer is even loaded with goods.

“So that we can get the driver and the owner of the trailer to come and answer for the way the trailer was parked before it caused the accident”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, has expressed concern over the increasing rate of accidents involving petrol tankers.

Oyeyemi, who expressed the concern in Abuja, during a visit to the office of the petroleum tankers drivers, says 11 tankers had been involved in major accidents in the past two and a half weeks.
