More than one million pairs of Made-in-Aba footwear were being exported weekly to countries in the West Africa sub-region.
Special Assistant to Abia State Governor on Job Creation and Youth Development, Chinenye Nwogu, who disclosed this during the ‘Unveiling of Made in Aba Products in Abuja’, explained that Aba-based dealers in leather and garment fabrication made excess sales of N1 billion in 2016.
He said this was an indication of the growing acceptance and admiration of made in Aba products which were in line with the federal government’s local content policy.
Nwogu said the show in the nation’s capital is aimed at creating awareness on the Aba brand promotion and increased market penetration.
He said it will bring together designers of all skill levels and specialization who will showcase their master collections in corporate, ready-to-wear and native attires.
