WAEC introduces e-marking scheme

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has finalized plans to introduce electronic marker in conducting its Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) as from this year’s November/December edition.

The council’s head of Nigeria office, Mr Olutise Olanipekun, made this known while receiving members of the Education Writers Association of Nigeria in his office in Lagos.

He said the proposed electronic marker would phase out manual marking of the answer of the examination candidates on theoretical questions.

Olanipekun also said WAEC candidates would no longer be allowed to take home their theory question papers after writing their examination as the answer booklet would as from November/December edition of the examination be combined with the questions.
