Unions gives Ogun Government 21-day deadline

The organized labour has given the Ogun State Government a fresh 21-day deadline, to settle all the outstanding pensions and deductions from salaries, or face an indefinite strike.

Leaders of the State wing of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and the Joint Public service negotiating council took the decision at an emergency meeting of their State Executive Council on Thursday in Abeokuta.

NLC Chairman, Akeem Ambali said the State Government was owing 72 months of contributory pensions, 12 months of deductions from salaries of Civil Servants, four years of pensions, and 16 months of salaries to staff of the Tai Solarin College of Education.

The labour leaders said the delay in settling the arrears was inflicting economic hardship on the state’s civil servants.
