The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar, has asked Nigerians who commit crimes or steal public fund to stop hiding behind religion, Politics and Tribal affiliations to confuse the public.
The sultan who made the call at a symposium on the Sokoto caliphate in Sokoto, asked Nigerians to stop defending criminals and those who looted the treasury in any form in order to fight evil and move Nigeria forward.
He also urged them to begin to hold the state governors and their leaders accountable on how public fund is being spent so that they can be taken seriously.
The sultan urged the state governors and other leaders to start listening to the cries of ordinary Nigerians, understand their needs and stop wasting public fund on white elephant projects.
For instance, the sultan noted that several of the state governors are building airports when their administration could not pay workers’ salaries or put the roads that the ordinary people are using in good shape.
