FG empowers states to prosecute Federal offences
Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami, has empowered the state governments to prosecute cases created by federal law in their areas, as part of reform of the justice sector.
Such offences, include human trafficking, kidnapping, terrorism, drug related crimes, economic and financial crimes, cybercrime, and copyright breach,
The concession was granted by Malami, who is the attorney general of the federation at a meeting with the Attorney General of the states, convened by the body of benchers in Abuja.
The states Attorney General in a communique issued at the end of the meeting asked the Attorney General to publish the concession in the federal gazette.
