Speed Limiting Device: FRSC books 2,800 Commercial Drivers

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has issued tickets to 2,800 commercial vehicle drivers within 24 hours of enforcing the installation of speed limiting device in commercial vehicles.

The Corps Marshall, Boboye Oyeyemi in a Statement on Sunday said the tickets were issued as part of a mock enforcement exercise, and would not attract fine.

Oyeyemi said FRSC would start imposing fine on defaulting commercial drivers as from January 2017.

In Ogun State, the corps says it started enforcing the usage as from last Saturday.

The assistant corps Marshal, Sheu Zaki during a familiarization visit in Abeokuta, said the implementation of the device would be in phases for commercial vehicles in the state.

Zaki said the corps will start with ‘Advisory Enforcement’ and not punishing offenders.
