The South West All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders say the party’s 2019 polls’ presidential ticket is still open to any member of the party.
The leaders said that President Muhammadu Buhari has not informed it that he wants to seek re-election in 2019.
Even when Buhari indicates interest in the ticket, the APC leaders said the process of selecting the flag bearer must go through the due process.
Interim APC national leader, Chief Bisi Akande, made the explanation while answering questions from newsmen at the end of the meeting of the party’s South West leaders in Ibadan.
At the meeting were Governors Ibikunle Amosun, Akinwunmi Ambode, Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Akeredolu, as well as former governors Olusegun Osoba, Adeniyi Adebayo, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Christopher Alao Akala.
Also at the meeting were solid mineral minister, Kayode Fayemi, and his communication counterpart, Adebayo Shittu.
APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was absent due to ill health condition, while Governor Amosun and Akeredolu left the meeting before it ended.
Akande throwing more light on the ongoing agitation for restructuring, explained what APC has in its constitution is power devolution from federal government to the states, and not power restructuring. Please subscribe to our newsletter
