Security forces encircle Boko Haram in Sambisa Forest

Army says its forces have sealed up Boko Haram fighters inside the Sambisa Forest in Borno state in the ongoing assault to rid the North East Region of insurgents.

Commander of counter-insurgency operations in the region, Major General Lucky Irabor, made this known at a news conference in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

He said Boko Haram fighters are now trapped in the Sambisa Forest as his forces have blocked all routes for their escape.

The Army Commander said his forces are waiting for the trapped Boko Haram fighters to surrender, or they would further advanced into the forest to flush them out.
