Resident Doctors Issue Fresh Strike Notice Over MOU Not Implemented

Resident Doctors have issued a fresh nationwide notice strike to federal government, over its failure to implement the memorandum of understanding signed to suspend their strike in May.

The doctors, under the auspice of the National Association of Resident Doctors, gave Federal Government a two week deadline, to begin the implementation of the agreement.

After July 19, they will embark on a nationwide strike.

They are demanding a 200 per cent hike in the consolidated medical salary structure,and the payment of the 2023 medical residency training funds.

Other demands are the issuance of circular for the replacement of doctors and nurses who resigned,as well as,improved hazard allowances.

The association, however, called for the immediate payment of all outstanding arrears owed its members, including the hazard allowance and the skipping arrears of 2014-2016, and the arrears of consequential adjustment of minimum wage.

It also called for the immediate release and implementation of the guidelines on one-for-one replacement of clinical staff to cushion the effect of the massive manpower shortage in hospitals nationwide.
