Rehabilitation of Ogun Rural Roads in July

Ogun state government says it will begin the rehabilitation and construction of roads in the rural areas of the state within the next six weeks across the state.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun who made this known in Abeokuta, during the 2016 democracy day public lecture organized by the state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), said the project would be financed with the fund expected from the presidency for money spent by his administration on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of federal roads in the state.

The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, said dwindling financial resources has prevented the state government from rehabilitating access roads in the state..

Amosun who delivered the lecture titled: ”Democracy in Nigeria- The Gains,The Pains – Ogun example”,  said  to deepen democracy in the country, huge investment is needed in civic education and creation of enduring  structures  that would empower Nigerians to challenge government to fulfil its social responsibilities to the society.

Acting chairman of the state council of NUJ, Olusoji Amosu reminded the state government of its promise to provide a befitting NUJ state secretariat, while pledging the commitments of journalists in partnering government for more  developmental projects  in the state
