Private investors are to construct nine Truck Transit Parks (TTPs) across the country as part of moves to decongest major roads.
Each of the proposed Truck Transit Parks will cost about N4.8 billion, and will be equipped with modern facilities.
The project which is an initiative of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC) will be sited at Enugu, Kogi, Lagos, Kwara, Kaduna and Ondo States.
Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, who made the disclosure at the project at the transportation infrastructure breakfast roundtable organised by the Shippers council, said it will reduce pressure on the roads because the trucks are parked on them.
Each of the parks will have a hotel, hostel, restaurants, gas station, weighing centre, spare parts shop, clinic and other facilities that will make life comfortable for the truck drivers.
Amaechi also said by December, General Electric will commence haulage on the narrow gauge lines and major repairs of the narrow gauge tracks. Please subscribe to our newsletter [mc4wp_form id="10101"]
