Petrol Strike: FG Reads Riot Act To Workers, Labour Leaders

The presidency has directed workers nationwide to ignore the directive of a faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to embark on a strike over the new petrol price.

Secretary to the government of the federation, Babachir Lawal, on Tuesday night after a meeting with labour leaders, warned that workers who fail to report for duty will not be paid for the period they are on strike.

Lawal directed ministers, permanent secretaries and head of department and agencies to invoke the policy of no-work-no-pay against any of their staff who join the strike.

He directed security agencies to beef up security nationwide, to protect workers in reporting for duty, while asking  security agencies to dealt with labour leaders who attempt to  intimidate, barricade gates, or block of roads to enforce the strike
