PDP loses two House of Reps members

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost two of its members in the House of Representatives to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The defecting members are Tony Nwoye from Anambra State and Emmanuel Udende from Benue State.

The Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, read the letter of defection of the two PDP members at the plenary, and was challenged by the house minority leader, Leo Ogor, who declared their defection as unconstitutional, promising it would be contested by PDP.

With the latest defection, APC has increased its members in the house to 215, while that of PDP reduced to 140.

Meanwhile, the board of trustees (BOT) of PDP has taken over running of the party, following the unresolved leadership crisis in the party.

Both the former national interim national chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff and the Ahmed Makarfi caretaker committee, are contending for the control of the party, since the disputed national convention in Port Harcourt.

The BOT chairman, Senator Walid Jubrin, addressing staff of the PDP headquarters in Abuja, said bot remains the only legal organ to run PDP, until the leadership crisis is resolved.

He called on PDP members nationwide to apologize to god and Nigerians for abusing the power given to them from 1999 to 2015.
