All Progressives Congress (APC) elders in the in Ogun West have shortlisted three aspirants from the Yewa axis of the state, to contest the party’s ticket for the 2019 governorship poll.
Those shortlisted are the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi, Chief of Staff to the state governor, Chief Tolu Odebiyi and a House of Reps member, Abdulkabir Akinlade.
The three aspirants were among the seven aspirants from the Yewa Awori axis of the state, screened by the Ogun East APC elders on Wednesday in Abeokuta.
Those dropped by the screening committee are the state forestry commissioner, Kolawole Lawal, former House of Reps member, Isiak Akinlade, Abayomi Simeon Hunye and Olanrewaju Tella.
The screening committee headed by the Ogun West APC senatorial district chairman, Alhaji Ademola Fadairo, has the state APC secretary, Iyanda Kareem, and commissioner two in the state Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Adebayo Adeleke, as members.
Already, Ogun East APC which is also contending for the party’s 2019 governorship ticket had already elected commerce and industry commissioner, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru as its candidate at a primaries held last year in Ijebu Ode.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun had opted for a candidate from the Ogun West to pick the party ticket, but the state APC had said the race for the ticket is open to aspirants from the state’s three senatorial districts
