Ogun to commemorate MKO Abiola on June 12

Ogun State Government is to mark this year’s Democracy Day celebration of the late acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief Moshood Abiola with a commemorative walk in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa in a statement said the MKO Abiola commemorative walk would be led by Governor Ibikunle Amosun on Sunday, from the June 12 cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta by 7 am.

The proposed walk, according to Adeoluwa, would take participants through the major roads in the city and terminates at the ancestral home of Chief Abiola at Oke-Ido, Gbagura, where a special prayer session would be held for the continued repose of the soul of the late business mogul and sports enthusiast.

The state government urged all public functionaries, civil servants, labour and trade unions, students, market women and men as well as other stakeholders to participate in the events as a mark of honour for the late icon of democracy.
