A referendum will hold in five of the proposed 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) in Ogun state on Thursday, next week. The state house of assembly last week Thursday, had directed the Ogun state independent electoral commission (OGSIEC) to conduct a referendum in the proposed Abeokuta North East, Afon, Sango/Ijoko, Ifesowapo and Coker/Ibogun LCDAs within two weeks .
OGSIEC Chairman, Alhaja Risikat Ogunfemi who announced the date for the referendum at a news conference in Abeokuta, asked people of voting age of 18 years and above to come out en-masse to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ in the exercise which will hold between 9 am and 3pm.
One of the agency’s commissioners, Mr. Mutiu Agboke said the strict rules of electoral process would not be applied as every qualified resident with any form of identification would be allowed to participate in the exercise.
The Ogun State branch of the association of national accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) will hold its monthly general meeting today, April 14 in Abeokuta.
The meeting will hold at the association’s secretariat, off Saadatul Abbadiya mosque, near the NNPC mega station, along Abiola way in the city.
