19 Others Suspended. Sacked NLC Says it is Executive recklessness
Ogun state government has sacked the state chairman of the Nigeria labour congress (NLC), Mr Akeem Ambali, over events leading to the ongoing strike by civil servants.
Also sacked was the chairman of the state branch of the Nigeria Union of teachers, Dare Ilekoya, and 14 others.
19 others, some of them union officials were also suspended by the state government.
Top state government officials told Rockcity FM that they were sacked over the 2016 teachers day celebration during which the state government said opposition politicians were invited and live band sang their praise.
The state government, who said the nut which organized the event violated the civil service rule, alleged they collected money from the politician to finance the event
Meanwhile, the NLC Chairman has described his sack by the state government as an abuse of all statutory laws.
Ambali also said it was an act of executive recklessness, as he was not invited to clear any of the allegations leveled against him.
The Labour Leader, who said he heard of his sack through phone calls, directed the striking Ogun State Civil Servants to remain at home, until their legitimate demands are met by the state government.
