Ogun bans trucks carrying load above 30 tonnes from Abeokuta roads

Trucks conveying load weighing above 30 tonnes will no longer be allowed to ply major roads in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.

Works and infrastructure commissioner, Architect Lekan Adegbite, addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, said any of such trucks found on the roads would be impounded, and its driver fined N200,000.

Adegbite said a task force comprising of the traffic compliance and enforcement corps and officials of the Nigeria Police Force would be stationed at the entrance to the city, especially the Ita Oshin, to enforce the directive.

The commissioner said the state government was worried over the damage done to the newly constructed roads in the city by heavy trucks and had to patch some of the roads including the Ibara – Inter change and Adigbe – Obada Oko Road.
