Ogun to adopt ICT in teaching core subjects in public schools

Ogun State

Ogun State government has said it intends to introduce information and communication technology to teach core subjects in public secondary school in the state.

Education, science and technology commissioner, Modupe Mujota, who made this known, at the meeting of the treasury board on the proposed 2018 budget, said the ministry is partnering with a private information and communication technology (ICT), firm, on the project.

She explained that the ICT project aims at addressing the problems of shortage of teachers in the state public secondary schools.

The company, according to Mujota, also agreed to provide 20 ICT hubs in the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Olabosipo Ogunsan, had complained of the shortage of teachers in the state public secondary schools, in which a ratio of one teacher handles about 500 students in core subjects.
