11 quarantined following monkeypox outbreak in Bayelsa

Ogun State government said it has activated its surveillance mechanism, to prevent the spread of monkeypox virus into the state.

Health commissioner, Doctor Babatunde Ipaye, who made this known in Abeokuta, said that surveillance officers have been placed on red alert, especially at the border communities.

According to Ipaye, the state has also equipped three isolation centres already created across the state, to adequately deal with any emergencies that may arise.

The isolated centres are located at Iberekodo Primary Health Care Centre, the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, both in Abeokuta, as well as, the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
