Obasanjo advocates increased trade among ECOWAS Nations

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has advocated for increased trading activities between Nigeria and the rest of Africa to address the Economic Recession in the Country.

Obasanjo made the call, while receiving the minister of industry, trade and investment, Doctor Okechukwu Enilamah, the minister of state for industry, trade and investment, Aisha Abubakar and other top government officials at his hilltop mansion in Abeokuta.

The former president expressed concern over the low volume of trade among African countries, which he puts at 12% of their total trade, compared with other countries in Europe, America and Asia.

Obasanjo said trading would improve with the immediate establishment of exchange commodity board to regulate prices of agricultural products and enhance profit margin of local farmers.
