NPA demands ports charges payment in forex

Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) has demanded payment of fees by stakeholders and concessionaire in the Nation’s seaports in dollar.

The authority managing director, Hadiza Usman, who made this known in Port Harcourt at a stakeholders meeting, said the dollar payment of fees was in the agreement signed with the port concessionaires.

Usman who said NPA has obligation in dollar assured that NPA, transport ministry, and central bank of Nigeria would meet on the issue of fee payment in dollar.

She assured that provision would be made in the proposed 2017 budget for purchase of a pilot cutter and tug boats, while asking the transport ministry to include the completion of the rivers ports rail project in the proposed budget
