President Muhammadu Buhari has said the military option is still on the table to end Militants attacks on the oil and gas facilities in the Niger Delta region.
Buhari gave this indication in Kaduna during the passing out parade of sixty third regular course cadet of the Nigerian defence academy, Kaduna.
The president however said the military option will only consider a military option if the ongoing dialogue with Niger Delta leaders and militant groups fail.
He said government could not fold its arms and allow the militants’ attacks which he said is having adverse effects on the Nigerian economy.
To facilitate the dialogue, all the major militant groups, particularly the Niger Delta avengers, had suspended their attacks.
