No going back on tanker drivers' strike, says NUPENG

Over eight million litres of petrol was diverted by petroleum product marketers between last December and February, according to the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

The agency said the product which was supplied by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), loaded in 162 trucks, were diverted from their original destinations.

Spokesman of DPR in the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Saidu, who made this known to newsmen after the meeting of DPR controllers in Abuja, explained that the agency’s special intelligence unit discovered the diverted products.

Most of the diverted product, according to him, were from NNPC depot in Kano.

Saidu said that a marketer in the state who diverted petrol in 115 trucks between last December and January this year was fined N1.2 billion.
