HIV/AIDS: shortage of Anti-Retroviral drug hits Health Centres

Health facilities in the country has been hit by an acute shortage of anti-retro-viral drug, to treat people living with HIV/Aids.

UN-Aids Country Director, Doctor Bilali Camara, who made this known, said the situation required an urgent solution.

He said joint UN on HIV/aids programme was discussing with the federal ministry of health, network of people living with HIV/AIDS and major donors to address the shortage of the drug, which it noted was growing.

Camara said the acute shortage was caused by the problems that the global fund is facing in managing its resources in the country, adding that his organization was liasing with the fund to restore its ties with Nigeria.
