Funding crisis hits NFF, few days to qualifier against Zambia
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick says barely days to Sunday’s world cup qualifier against Zambia the federation are yet to pay for a chartered flight and hotel in Ndola.
Pinnick who made this known before the Senate Sports Committee on Tuesday said NFF sponsors have not been forthcoming and this has forced them to apply for a government intervention but they are yet to get a response.
He said the team have a sound technical crew and players are doing well, but the missing link is a financial incapacitation.
Pinnick said NFF have made arrangements for a chartered flight with Arik and have reserved 60 rooms in a new hotel which is just 10 minutes from the stadium in Ndola, but have not paid for them.
He also confirmed that Europe-based stars were ordered to buy their flight tickets and fly economy to join the training camp in Abuja for Sunday’s world cup qualifier.
